Bedtime stories are habituated to children since their childhood. During their early childhood parents read bedtime stories for children. This creates a bond between the parents and children and children feel secure while sleeping. During bedtime the mind goes to a relaxing stage and these stories help children to imbibe the characters of the story. It makes children be creative in their everyday life.
Once children are able to read by themselves, parents should make children get habituated to reading the bedtime stories. This develops reading habit in children and allows them to create their own story in future.

My favourite Bedtime Story
My favourite bedtime story during childhood is “Panchatantra”. This is a short story book with a series of small stories. Each story gives a moral lesson at the end. The main reason for me to like it is the involvement of every living creature and creating a story between them.
The stories in panchatantra educate children to learn good values which are helpful in their life to achieve success and become a good person.
One of the stories in Panchatantra is: There was a father and Son who used to go for firewood collection in the forest. Son was a mischievous fellow who always got into trouble with his acts. One day on their way to the jungle he wanted to prank his father and in the middle of the jungle he shouted “Father it’s a Lion help me”. Listening to this, father ran to his son to save him and to father’s shock there was no lion and he understood that his son had made a prank. He told his son not to do it again and both walked further.
After some time, the son made the prank again and the father warned him not to repeat it. Finally, when the lion came for real and the son shouted for help. But this time father didn’t go for rescue thinking it to be a prank again. When the father looked back for his son, the lion killed the son. Moral of the story is not to make fun at all times and when there is actual need, people will not respond accordingly.
